“We are expecting the first models of the S-500 air defense systems very soon,” Russian Aerospace Forces Vice-Commander Lt.-Gen. Viktor Gumenny told the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Friday.
Open sources say the S-500 will be capable of simultaneously engaging up to 10 targets traveling at speeds of up to seven kilometers per second, which is an approximate speed of intercontinental ballistic missile nuclear warheads entering the atmosphere. The killing range of the complex is reported to be 600 kilometers, while the altitude of a target engaged could be near 180-200 kilometers.
In March 2015, it was reported that final tests of the exo-atmospheric 40N6 missile system developed for the S-500 complex had been completed successfully. It was also said that the high-intercept 40N6 missile with a reported maximum operational altitude of 180 kilometers could be deployed with previous generation S-300 complexes. This would give the already highly modernized air defense systems near space capabilities.
An air-droppable missile defense complex is being developed for Russia’s airborne forces to ensure that after landing, troops have the means to secure the skies and prevent inbound airstrikes. The system will be the first operating version of its kind in the world.
Russia’s airborne troops will soon have the means to effectively establish local no-fly zones with the help of a mobile crawler-mounted Ptitselov (Fowler) air defense complex, a hybrid of the well-known Pantsir-S1 (NATO designation SA-22 Greyhound) cannon-missile system mounted on an air-droppable BMD-4M armored vehicle.
The characteristics of Pantsir-S1 suggest it can engage targets at altitudes of 15 meters to 15km at a distance of up to 20km. The Pantsir-S1’s missiles intercept airborne objects traveling at speeds of up to 1,000 m/s (3,600 km/h), meaning it is capable of downing any aircraft, cruise missile or drone. The complex also effectively engages “smart” air bombs, and was specifically designed to take down assault helicopters using its two independently-operated 30mm cannons. Its radar spots targets at a distance of up to 36km.
Another remarkable feature of the Fowler is that its crew will be air-dropped inside the vehicle, as is already the case with all other Russian paratrooper vehicles.

Не до 2020, 2030 итд, а здесь и сейчас. Подозреваю, первые комплексы станут на дежурство на окраине моей Купавны - именно там стали на дежурство С-400 Триумф, поскольку рядом центральный штаб ПВО Москвы.
Ну и десантируемые системы ПВО, прямо с расчетом, которые могут с ходу сбивать воздушную угрозу на фоне "хамвипада" выглядят устрашающе. При этом все системы - оборонительные: "пусть я не летаю, но и никто летать не будет".

Russia’s electronic warfare equipment producer launched tests of a tactical electromagnetic combat complex fully integrated with latest air-defense systems. It guarantees complete neutralization of all enemy electronics.
Factory testing is underway for components of the new system, capable of protecting troops and civilian facilities from air and space attacks, a representative of Russia’s leading producer of electronic warfare systems, Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern (KRET), told TASS. The tests are expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
Integrated with air defense systems and networks, the new complex “maintains automated real-time intelligence data exchange with the airspace defense task force” to facilitate centralized target distribution, the source said.
In November 2015, Nasenkov said that a new upcoming ground-based electronic defense system integrated with air defense system is going to be incorporating antisatellite capabilities.
